Why margins matter when you print a PDF
Printers cannot print to the edge
Most laser printers leave a few millimetres blank on every side. A PDF made for screens puts text right there, and it disappears on paper.
Binding eats into the page
Spiral binding punches holes about 5–6 mm from the edge, and perfect binding glues a strip of the inner margin. A 1 cm gutter keeps the words clear of both.
Mixed page sizes print badly
Downloaded notes often mix A4, Letter and odd scanned sizes. Fitting every page to A4, the default, gives a neat stack with the same margins throughout.
Double-sided books need a mirrored gutter
On the front of a sheet the binding edge is on the left; on the back it is on the right. The tool switches sides automatically.

Content right up to the edge
With no margin, the printer cuts off the outer few millimetres and binding hides more. Each page is shrunk just enough to sit inside the margin you choose, so nothing is lost.
Uneven margins from page to page
Some pages have wide white borders, others none, and some sit off-centre. The tool finds where the content really is on each page, removes the old border, and fits the content inside the margin you choose, so every printed page has the same margin.
Damaged or oddly made PDFs

What does the binding gutter do?
It adds extra space on the binding edge. With double-sided printing selected, the gutter is on the left for front pages and on the right for back pages.
What happens to landscape or rotated pages?
They keep their orientation. With Fit to A4, a wide page is placed on a landscape A4 sheet.
Can I choose pages in a different order?
Yes. Type them in the order you want, for example 5, 1-3. Pages print in that order.
What is the difference between the two ZIP buttons?
The first uses each file’s own page selection and margin. The second takes every page of every file with the settings for all files.
What does the voice confirmation say?
After each download it announces the file and its page count. Untick Voice confirmation to turn it off.
My large PDF used to fail. Does it work now?
Yes. Large files are read once, previews are drawn only when you scroll to them, and the tool uses all the processor cores in your device, preparing several files, or parts of one large file, at the same time. Very large files still work best on a laptop or desktop.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, for normal files. Very large PDFs are better on a computer, which has more memory.
Can it open password-protected PDFs?
No. Open the PDF with its password, save an unlocked copy, and add that copy.
